AMAD specializes in development of smart Magneto-Rheological (MR) materials and devices. Examples of MR materials are MR Fluids (MRFs) and MR Elastomers (MREs). MR materials have high controllability of material properties which results in very fast response times. Some examples of MR devices are Tunable Vibration Absorbers (TVA) which include polymer based smart viscoelastic bushings, motor mounts, as well as other polymer-based chassis components. TVA also includes highly controllable viscous fluid dampers for automotive, heavy/military truck, motorcycle, mountain bike and seismic applications.
AMAD has been developing a MRE TVA smart shock pad. The technology can be used in various applications for both military and private sectors. Potential specific applications for a MR shock absorber includes, but not limited to: HMMWV, weapon recoil systems, helicopter main rotor assembles, suspension mechanisms of ground combat vehicles providing enhanced ground speed over rough terrain, vehicle engine mounts and bushings, aircraft landing gear systems, rotating machinery and power plant mounts, sensitive electronic equipment vibration isolation, as well as automation and motion control for industrial manufacturing systems.
